How we can help

Our Driveway Resurfacing Services Across Darwin

Clearing Mould and Stains First

Got black mould creeping across the slab, or rust marks from bore water and oil drips by the garage? We treat and pressure clean all of it before any coating goes down. In Darwin's humidity this step really matters, because an overlay laid over live mould tends to discolour and let go of the concrete.

Sprayed Texture Finishes

We spray and trowel a thin polymer-modified cement layer across your old driveway in the colour and texture you pick. It hides patchy repairs and odd-coloured sections under one consistent finish, and it suits a sound slab that simply looks worn out.

Brick, Tile and Flagstone Patterns

We lay paper stencils on the slab before coating, so when they lift away you get a brick, tile or flagstone look with grout lines in a contrasting colour. Want a border along the edges or a feature band at the gate? We can add those too, and they lift the look of the whole front yard.

Garage Aprons and Under-House Parking

Your garage apron, carport and the parking bay under an elevated home can all be done in the same finish, so nothing clashes. We give these hard-working spots an oil-resistant topcoat, which makes drips from parked cars much easier to wash off.

Rebuilding Pitted Patches

The spot where tyres turn and the patch under a splashing downpipe often end up pitted, scaled or dusty. We build those hollows back up with repair mortar before the topping goes on, so the new layer sits at an even thickness and water stops pooling where it always has.

Matching Paths, Steps and Patios

Why stop at the driveway? We can carry the same system along your front path, side walkways, porch step and patio so the whole yard ties together. Doing it all in one visit is usually better value than calling us back for a second job later.

Three Simple Ways to Start Your Darwin Driveway Resurface

Is your driveway sound underneath but stained, faded or patchy on top? Resurfacing could save you pulling it out altogether. Pick any of the three options below and we'll soon know whether your slab is suitable.

  • Photograph the problem areas: Send us pictures of the worst bits, whether that's mould, oil, rust or flaking, and we'll suggest an overlay or coating that could work.
  • Wet it, then snap it: Give the slab a quick hose and take your photos while it's still damp. Wet concrete shows up hairline cracks and low spots that hold water.
  • Book a slab check: We'll come out, tap the surface for drummy spots and look for movement, so your new layer goes onto a firm base.

Darwin's build-up and wet season are ideal conditions for mould and algae on bare concrete, so choosing the right sealer is as important as choosing the colour. We can also add grip to ramps and shady driveways that turn slick in the rain. Send through your photos and we'll put together a free resurfacing quote for you.

Why work with us

Why Darwin Homeowners Trust Us With Their Driveways

An Honest Call On Your Slab

Some driveways simply aren't worth coating, and we'll tell you if yours is one of them. If the concrete is too far gone for an overlay, we'll quote you a replacement rather than sell you a finish that won't hold up.

Preparation Is Where It Counts

Most overlay failures come down to a poor bond with the old concrete, not a bad product. That's why we grind off the worn surface, remove old sealers and grime, and prime the slab so your new layer grips firmly.

Cracks Repaired, Joints Respected

Coat over a live crack and it will show through your new finish soon enough. We open up and fill cracks, or isolate them, and we keep the control joints working so the slab can move without damaging the surface.

Better Drainage While We're There

Does rain run towards your garage or pond near the gate? Resurfacing is a good chance to fix that. We shape the new layer so water heads for the street or a drain, which really counts when a wet-season storm dumps heavy rain in a short time.

No Jackhammers, No Skip Bins

Your old slab stays where it is, so there's no breaking, no excavator and no trucks carting rubble down your street. Your neighbours get less noise and dust, and it's a real help on narrow blocks or under elevated homes where machines can't easily reach.

Care Notes You Can Use

We're upfront about how an overlay compares with a brand-new pour. When we finish, you get simple care notes covering which cleaners are safe, how to spot a tired sealer and roughly when to plan your next reseal.

Common questions

Your Resurfacing Questions Answered

Common questions about resurfacing a Darwin driveway: whether your slab suits it, how the cost compares, the finishes on offer and how long it lasts.

It depends on what's happening beneath the surface. An overlay is a great option when the slab is still sound and just looks tired: worn paste, oil stains, fine surface crazing or a plain grey finish that's showing its age. It isn't the answer when panels have cracked right through and rock as you drive over them, when the base has washed out and sections are dropping, or when rusting reinforcement is splitting the concrete. On soft or poorly drained ground, wet-season water can get under a slab and keep it moving, and a topping won't stop that; the cracks just come back. We'll come and look at your driveway and give you a straight answer, even if that answer is a new pour.

Usually, yes, and often by a good margin, although every slab is different, so we only quote once we've seen yours. With resurfacing you aren't paying to break up the old concrete, load it, cart it away and tip it, or to prepare a new base and pour a full-depth slab. Instead, your money covers cleaning, grinding, crack repairs, the overlay and the sealer. The main price drivers are the size of the area, how much patching is needed and the finish you choose; a stencilled pattern in two colours costs more than a single sprayed texture. If your driveway is hard for machines to reach, say a narrow run beside an older home in the northern suburbs, the saving is usually greater still.

More than most people expect, and that's a big reason homeowners go this way. We can turn a plain grey slab into a sprayed texture, a stencilled brick, tile or flagstone design, or a one- or two-tone finish with a contrasting border. Under Darwin's sun it's worth considering lighter colours, as they're far more comfortable to walk on than dark charcoal. The one limit is thickness. An overlay is a thin layer, so it can't recreate the deep texture of a full-depth stamped pour. For ramps, crossovers and shady spots we usually add a non-slip grit to the top coat so tyres and feet grip better in tropical rain. We're happy to bring samples out so you can see them in your own yard.

For a standard suburban driveway, allow a few days all up: cleaning and grinding, crack and patch repairs, applying the overlay, then sealing. That's much faster than a replacement because there's no breaking out, no base work and no full pour. After the last coat you'll need to keep cars off for several days, and we'll give you the exact cure time for the product we use, since it differs between systems. The weather sets the pace. Preparation and coating need a dry surface, so the dry season, roughly May through October, is the easiest window, while jobs in the wet are slotted in between storms and sometimes shuffled to suit the forecast.

On sound concrete that's been properly prepared, you can expect many years of use, and you can freshen it up along the way with a clean and reseal. It won't outlive a well-built new driveway, because it relies on the slab beneath staying stable; if that slab cracks or sinks later on, the overlay goes with it. To get the most from yours, reseal once water stops beading on the surface, keep gutters and drains flowing so runoff doesn't eat away at the edges, and skip harsh acid cleaners. The intense Top End UV can break sealers down sooner than in cooler places, so you may need to reseal a little earlier. Above all, it pays to start with a slab that's genuinely suited to resurfacing.
